Red- currants are one of the fruits that truly reminds me of my Poland and my grandmother’s garden. I have to say, they are quite popular in Polish plots, personal I love these fruits for the taste, wonderful look and that you can make yummy compotes and preparations for the winter time 🙂
They come in 3 varieties: red, black and white, but the most popular are red and black. These fruits have a very high content of vitamin C (black contains the most) and you only need to take a handful and our daily requirement for this vitamin will be fully satisfactory. Currants as such also contain large amounts of calcium, iron, potassium, and magnesium. They are perfect for anyone who wants to lose a few <kg> before the holidays 🙂
Broad Bean/Fava Bean-Bób
Broad Bean or Fava Bean, in polish Bób- it’ a very popular vegetables in Poland, so much that I cannot imagine the Polish summer without it 🙂 This cute veggie, which unfortunately has a short season, is very healthy for our body. Contains a high amount of protein, is also a very rich source of folic acid, so needed especially during pregnancy – 100g of Bób contains 106% of the daily requirement for this valuable vitamin! Of course this is only a short part, of many other advantages.
In Poland we eat Bób immediately after cooking (in water or steam), or – my favourite way, we add a bit of butter, garlic and sprinkle with dill, so yum 🙂
